Your Stars April 2025

There is a certain grim satisfaction in seeing alarming planetary omens acted out in real life, but it would be far better if astrologers were proved wrong in instances like those we are currently witnessing, and of course, astrologers were far from the only ones foreseeing wars, corruption and economic chaos. We simply frame it in the archetypal language provided by the planets.

Of the various transits, eclipses and clashes in progress, the movement of a major ‘outer’ planet (i.e. beyond Saturn) stands out. Neptune’s arrival in Aries and the very start of the zodiac on March 30 is the first time it’s been here since 1861, when it coincided with the first shots of the US civil war (April 12 1861).

This time the United States has unleashed a different kind of war, both against its own citizens and against the world economic system. Neptune here also touches on a crucial point in the USA’s chart, its I.C, or root and perhaps marks the nation’s shift from democracy to kleptocracy, a place where votes are quite literally on sale.

Perhaps the most alarming moment in April comes towards its close when Pluto and Mars are in opposition – exact on April 27th – for the third and final time this year.

Aries and Aries rising

It’s your birthday and, you know how it should be: Aries first! You lead and others follow. However, not this year. Your least favourite thing, patience, is the quality most called for, especially in the first half of the month. The solar eclipse of March 29 is an omen of change but eclipses rarely reveal their full meaning straight away. With Venus retreating behind the scenes, you may well be waiting on someone else’s decision, waiting for a situation to reveal itself. Not until Venus arrives in your skies on May 1st will you be fully in business, meanwhile you gain control by degrees; a full Moon in Libra on April 13 re-opens dialogue with one partnership, while Mercury arrives on the 16th to empower you further.

Ruler Mars then moves into Leo and your zone of mischief and play; promising early summer high jinks, which you should relish while you can given that Saturn is just down the road and heading your way. The ambiguous planet Neptune has already arrived, so far only to put ideas in the heads of spring equinox birthdays. Explore with care. Happy Birthday.

Taurus and Taurus rising

Your fair ruler, Venus, is in the last part if its retrograde cycle, and dragging you back to unresolved friendships and business associations where you are contested. In April you get a golden opportunity to resolve at least some of the issues. Overall you are in a slightly sticky patch of the year, with a solar eclipse and other planets in your twelfth house, the zone of spirit and faith at best, at worst a place where secrets and hidden forces lurk and you are likely to work against your own best interests. A retreat where you confront such shibboleths may be in order.

The Sun’s move into the Bull’s skies on 20th helps blow away the cobwebs, with a new Moon on the 27th following – top birthday of the month. The first three weeks of April feature Mars in Cancer doing great things for your skill set and for your presentational and comms skills, perhaps sorting out issues that stretch back to the close of 2024. On the 18th Mars moves to the root of your solar chart in Leo, ready to fight for home and hearth and gather family to your cause. However, crusade with care, since Mars is opposed by Pluto on the 27th and you may be drawn into a scrap that you cannot win – say with a corporation against little old you. Happy Birthday.

Gemini and Gemini rising

There has been a powerful ebb and flow to your horoscope with a pair of eclipses and some major retrogrades – enough to upset your personal applecart were it not for jolly Jupiter in your skies, a transit that makes you temporarily unsinkable. With ruler Mercury and Venus up high in your solar chart alongside Saturn you can continue to build your career status and contacts, though little falls into your lap without effort.

The recent solar eclipse in Aries focuses on the sector of your ‘scope where you find allies, business partnerships and other figures from the collective, to remind you that sometimes teamwork makes light work. If you are already part of a team, shake things up a little to keep everyone fresh and happy. The full Moon of the 14th, in Libra, falls in a power spot for you, with love affairs highlighted; this could be quite a weekend. From the 20th the Sun is in the reclusive sector of your chart known as the twelfth house, where thoughts and intentions count as much as actions.

Cancer and Cancer rising

cancerWith Mars in your sign – still – you are likely to take every setback or harsh word as a personal attack rather than as part of a general and unsettling change in your world. Starting with the solar eclipse of March 29, your career path, or your life direction if you prefer, are at the centre of things throughout April and May, and could lead to a new job , or you deciding you have had enough of current employment. Revelation may arrive with the full Moon of the 14th.

Mars’ departure on the 18th signals a less anguished spell and hopefully resolution to some personal issues after four months of dealing with the red planet. Before it leaves, Mars makes splendid aspects to both Saturn and Venus, a signal that you can ally with powerful or attractive people, or someone combining the two in one package. The Sun’s move into Taurus on the 20th and a new Moon there on the 27th are food and drink to Cancerians, a cue to seek out good company and work as a team player.

Leo and Leo rising

Assorted retrogrades have seen you somewhat swamped with chores and maybe left in the red for your troubles, but hey, you are now being fired up by a new Moon in Aries (March 29) with a solar eclipse involved to help break recent patterns and seizing back the initiative. Space would help; either physical space, as in travel and/or mental space, as in contemplation/meditation. One way or another, put some distance between you and recent events.

The 6th and 7th are helpful moments along the way (Luna is in Leo) as is the full Moon of the 13th . On the 20th two key points in your horoscope are activated. Your Sun ruler hits the apex of your solar chart and Mars arrives in Leo on 18th. Both transits help you attract interest though not without a few scraps. Those involving professional matters look routine, but something more personal looms around the full Moon of the 27th when Mars opposes Pluto. This is likely to be a showdown you can’t win.

Virgo and Virgo rising

Having Venus in opposition all month – and Mercury for its first half – is an invitation to open your eyes to beauty, to fall for someone special or to reanimate a relationship that has been dormant or stuttering along. This year’s Venus’ cycle has been complex an on-off affair with a total eclipse in your sign involved, , but in April you get a clear run at whomever or whatever obsesses you, even if it’s only the same old same old seen in a more glorious light.

The solar eclipse of March 29 also defines much of April. A lunation in Aries is partly about money, and specifically where it comes from; is it ethically gained and is it justly shared between you and your main squeeze? You can give over a portion of your time to deciding should you wish, and to sealing your professional status: Jupiter remains atop your ‘scope and you are especially open to self-promotion this spring, before the giant planet moves on.

Neptune is now out of opposition, where it has been for thirteen long years – feels like someone left a jail door wide open.

Libra and Libra rising

A solar eclipse in your opposite sign asks questions about at least one major relationship, especially since your Venus ruler has gone missing from the same position and retreated into Pisces. Eclipses are not necessarily bad omens; this one could presage the arrival of someone swell, a true mate, but Venus’s backslide suggests an element of disillusion with an existing set-up. It’s a little early in the 13-year opposition of Neptune to worry about deception from another party, but Mercury’s flip back and forth since mid-March is potentially loaded with trickery and even blatant lies. The Libra full Moon of April 13 is a high-tide mark in such matters, but is also a chance for you to show off should you wish,

One happy change is Mars, ruler of your one-on one zone, finally arriving in Leo, a place of major conviviality and support. If you are losing a partner, you can acquire a team, a posse of fellow travellers. Mars opposes Pluto on the 27th, a potential point for a quarrel, and very likely one you don’t have to engage in. Also, on the 27th comes a new Moon in the sector of  finances, a cue to ensure you get very last cent you are owed.

Scorpio and Scorpio rising

Alert: busy month ahead. March’s solar eclipse fell in your zone of work – not that starry stuff where you win awards but the everyday graft required to get there. If that’s all you seem to do – graft – then it could be time to tweak your work set-up to ensure something more meaningful occupies your long hours.

More fraught, perhaps, is your romantic life. An exalted Venus in Pisces is just the ticket for amorous adventures, but the relationship planet has been rattling back and forth, suggesting either that someone is playing with your heartstrings, or that it’s yourself blowing hot and cold over an affair. Venus moves on at the end of the month, setting you a timeline, with its movement forwards on the 13th a moment of potential clarity, especially given a fat Moon is in Scorpio’s skies on the 14th/15th .

On the 20th the Sun moves into opposition to thicken the plot with significant others (not just romances). A new moon here on the 27th promises to put events of recent weeks into perspective and allow you to move on.

Ruler Mars hitting the peak of your scope – on the 18th – is very much the starry stuff where you win accolades for your work. You may have to give and take a few knocks along the way, but the next couple of months are all about you as a career winner, The opposition of Mars and Pluto on the 27th could be fierce – a low profile is advised.

Sagittarius and Sagittarius rising

SagittariusSigns of change are in the air, suggesting an overload of duties and possibilities is heading your way, the former focused on career or property, the latter on affairs of the heart and anything that fits under the catch-all of ‘creativity’. A solar eclipse, the arrival of Neptune in Aries and your fifth house of play make your games, sport, painting, writing and symphony-scoring ongoingly important and inspired. With an outer planet (Neptune) in the Ram, you are now more connected with the collective. Venus remains in your fourth house of home and hearth – time to upgrade Villa Sadge and to resolve quarrels from the last few weeks. The relationship planet has been back and forth and a romance might have proved an exhausting courtship, while ruler Jupiter demands one-on-ones either deliver or vanish.

Saturn isn’t done with you either. it’s the last couple of months with the task master leaning on you, asking for boring paperwork and other concerns involving home and family are fully tied off. The eclipses of March suggest there’s emotional baggage to be cast off; new times need to begin unencumbered.

Capricorn and Capricorn rising

A solar eclipse in your zone of family and home doesn’t mean you are going to relocate – though it helps if you are planning to do so – but it may well announce a shake-up at Castle Capricorn, with a change in who lives there and a spell where you unload some of the treasures stored in its cellars. The discovery of a long lost relative among the picture gallery is also on the cards. The full Moon of the 13th should help makes things clear.

Good news is that Mars, which has been opposite you for some four months, is finally moving on at mid-month, meaning associates who are as much enemy as friend are no longer in your way. More good news: the Sun in Taurus and your solar fifth house from the 20th means spring playtime is back, and a new Moon here on the 27th is a perfect time for beginning an enterprise that’s close to your heart.

Aquarius and Aquarius rising

Whatever the issue, with Jupiter in your fifth house of self-display and good company, you can’t go far wrong in April. Planets in Aries and a full Moon in Libra make a fine soundtrack for a thriving social life – providing you have done your homework on finances.

Other developments require your attention. Firstly, Mars moves back into opposition in your zone of significant others on 18 April. That includes open enemies and good friends and all points between – you can rely on your opponents to come out fighting, but pals and associates may also question your motives and expectations. Best to anticipate some hurly burly, especially either side of the 27th, when Mars opposes Pluto in your own skies, bringing a survivalist (or ‘existential’) quality to the situation, especially for February 23 birthdays.

Also, on the 27th there is new Moon in Taurus at the root of your ‘scope, a nudge to spruce Aquarian acres and get together with family.

Pisces and Pisces rising

Any month dominated by Venus in your skies has much going for it – refreshing company, a refreshed wardrobe, the making of a small masterpiece – and the chance to settle the emotional churn of recent weeks when said planet has shuttled back and forth across signs. The new Moon cum solar eclipse in Aries directs attention to finances and to your possessions, where you likely have not enough of the former and too many of the latter. A spring purge of what has become redundant should help, especially as you have just the planets to help, Saturn in your sign, Mars strong in Cancer until 18th.

The season of Taurus, beginning on the 19th and with a new Moon on the 27th, offers a smooth ride into spring, an opening of the ways and fresh company. At the end of the month, you bid sayonara to Venus, more’s the pity, while you have already said goodbye to Neptune (on March 30) after 13 years in your skies. Neptune will be back for three months at the end of 2025 but best to shrug off its influence for now. If you want an image to signify the change, imagine a rusty old bike being dragged from your personal pond.
